Someone worth voting for? Ron Paul for Pres?

And *GASP*

He's republican!!! RUN AWAY!!!

seriously. I've been reading and watching more and more about this guy and for the first time in a long time I can honestly say I am interested in a republican candidate. He's got balls, he's got experience, he's smart(dude, he's a obgyn!)...

The one thing I am not crazy about is that he's antiabortion. But even with that he's TOTALLY prolife - no capitol punishment, staying out of countries for starting wars etc.

His stance is more along the lines of founding fathers - don't try to make countries, don't get in everyone elses policies, etc. We have enough going on here to handle without messing with other people.

Am I voting for him? I dunno. Going to do more research tho, that's for sure.

So should you -

  1. I’d suggest looking into him more carefully before you get excited about him. :) He’s anti-immigration, to the point of backing the plan to build fences along the border. His liberitarian/anti-big government stance means he’s someone who won’t vote to spend money on social programs to help those who need help. (In other words, he’s probably one of the ones who helped to eliminate the federal funding to the Center that we are now desperately trying to replace with our ride.) And while being anti-abortion may not be a single-issue vote to you, what that implies about him may be something to consider since you have both a wife and a daugther. He is described as “voting his morals”, which means he votes according to his religious beliefs, rather than on what is best for his constituents. That approach is exactly what we’ve got in the president we’ve got right now. Ugh.

I’ve looked into most of the currently running candidates, and I don’t see a single guy on the Republican side who seems like a good idea.
