State of the Union

So what's been happening with us?  Travel!  We've been gone for the last several weekends, and it's been great seeing everyone, but this weekend what did we do? NOTHING!

Well, I built some application stuff for a project I'm working on, but for the most part, Saturday was just watching DVR'd episodes of The Cleaner.  Btw, watch it, it's really good.  I've always like Benjamin Bratt, but he's a natural in this role.  The kids were at other kids houses for playdates so we had some time to just sit and veg out.  Much needed, and time well spent.

Fae's kidneys are pissed at her again, she's got another stone.  She'll be going in for scans tomorrow and hopefully she'll be able to get it blasted (they take a big sonic gun and point it at it, and blow it away - she's under for it, and feels like she was rabbit punched by the Jolly Green Giant).  The sooner the better.  Her moods and anxiety are a lot better lately, so much so that the last 1.5 months might actually be worth it ;)

Aidan is doing well.  It's looking like 6th grade will be a much better year for him, thank goodness.  Last year he walked around alone, with victim tattooed on his forehead.  His confidence was nil, his outlook grim, and in the beginning of the year, his grades slipped bigtime.  Thankfully he made it through the year with some help, and enjoyed a nice relaxed summer.  Crawled out of his shell and is a lot healthier now.  As I said, I think switching around for different teachers for each subject will be a good thing.  Plus, after sending a pleading note to anyone involved, it looks like they listened when we asked that one of his friends be in his class.  Out of 7 periods, his friend Adam is in 5 of his classes.

Gillian is doing well too.  After a fabulous week at Celiac camp, she was a little under the weather but very excited to start 3rd grade.  As fate would have it, she has the teaching pair that Aidan had in 3rd grade who were convinced that he was ADD.  No, he's just bored and probably knows the material better than you lady.  Challenge him, PLEASE!!!  Thankfully his 4th grade teacher was much better.  She absolutely adores Gillian, and the feeling is mutual as hell :)   Gillian is praying for her next year.

Me?  Depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, dismal outlook, feeling fat, feeling ugly, feeling OLD.  That's about the last three weeks of my feelings.  I haven't been sleeping well, I've had to handle more than I would like to have handled because of the rollercoaster of meds Fae's been on, but I think in the end, that I might have handled things okay.  Works about to get really freaked because we're moving offices and moving a lot of our servers to a data center.  I am also putting together a plan to migrate all the old crap to a data warehouse so our reports can utilize that huge mountain of data( chaos ) we have in our laps and no idea what to do with.

I'm learning to plan better, and to know my own limitations.  I'm more focused now, I'm working out at a gym in town, I've been doing martial arts things with the kids, and I am sleeping better.  Needless to say, the rollercoaster is still going, but I feel like I have a better handle on things.  Planning on going to the gym after I get Aidan on the bus tomorrow.  We're also going to Kendo for the first time in a month, so we're both pretty excited about that.
