Aidan’s a poet:)
Reading
By Aidan Cushing
Inspired by Robert Frost
I peer down into the foreign realm,
And see the crafting looking back.
An adventure, with me at the helm,
An adventure does no book lack.
Maybe this time I am a lifeguard
Spending my days in the sand
Or maybe even a lazy dog.
Laying around in the yard.
A pirate, a robot, a ninja too.
You can find it in a book.
All kinds of stories for me and you.
Just go to the library, and take a look.
As I peer into this foreign realm,
I think of my next adventure.
Where I am captain at the helm,
Reading is my knowledge quencher.

Now that is an awesome poem! And he’s how old? If I were you -and Aidan -I’d be looking for some poetry contest sites -or better yet, for guidelines to various magazines where you could submit this poem for potential publication and also -potential payment as well!
As an old -very old -person who has loved reading and books, magazines, even newspapers too, since I was about 4-5 years old, I have to say that his logic in loving books and what he gets out of them is so very, very on target! Wish more kids would realize that with a good book, you can travel around the world, go to any era, time-travel, as it were, and never leave the comfort of a cozy spot where you choose to sit and read!
Keep up with that attitude and Aidan will go far, indeed!

Thanks y’all, I’m proud as hell of his ability
Jeni – he’s an old soul, so it doesn’t surprise me. He just turned 13 in April and in some ways is more mature than his 41 yr old father:)
I had no idea he wrote this well, I’m going to do my best to encourage it.
